Two women from Bareilly, an aunt and her niece, were arrested for stealing from women in Uttarakhand. Their actions were exposed after CCTV footage revealed their crimes.
On October 9, a woman named Sushila Arya filed a complaint with Kathgodam Police, stating that while shopping in Mangalparaav, her purse and important documents were stolen amid the crowd. The purse contained ₹3,000. Police began investigating the case.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police arrested two women near Sindhi Chowk. During questioning, both confessed to the theft. The accused were identified as Mithlesh from Bareilly and Meena from Rudrapur.
According to police, they frequently targeted crowded areas during festive seasons, distracting women to steal purses, jewelry, and other valuables. They had also committed similar thefts earlier in Haldwani market.
